Industrial Chiller Installation,London & South East

  • Where: London & South East
  • What: Industrial chiller lifting, installation and final positioning
  • Client: Undisclosed
  • Partner: Non partnered project

The challenge

Lift an industrial chiller unit over a site perimeter fence and position it precisely on its final plinth, then skate and jack additional chiller units into their installed positions.

When a site has no vehicle access to the plant area, getting large HVAC equipment to its installed position requires a different approach.
On this project, the primary chiller unit had to be lifted over the perimeter fence using a lorry loader — a manoeuvre that demands careful calculation of reach, load radius and lift geometry to confirm the machine can safely make the lift before the vehicle is even positioned.
Once the unit was over the fence and set down, skates and jacks were used to move it across the plant area and into its final position.
A second phase of the project involved lifting, skating and jacking additional chiller units into their own installed positions using the same ground-level handling equipment.
Tracking plates were used throughout to protect the ground surface and provide a stable rolling path for the skate equipment.`

Equipment Used

-Lorry loader
-Specialist lifting slings and shackles
-Skates and jacks
-Tracking plates
-Crane mats

Expertise Provided

-Over-fence chiller lifts with lorry loaders
-Lift geometry and radius planning for restricted-access sites
-Ground-level HVAC plant positioning with skates and jacks
-Multi-unit installation sequencing
-Surface protection using tracking plates and crane mats

The Result

All chiller units were successfully lifted and positioned into their installed locations.
The over-fence lift was completed cleanly within the lorry loader’s confirmed working envelope, and the skate-and-jack sequence placed each unit accurately on its plinth without damage to the units or the ground surface.
Riglift carries out HVAC chiller installations for clients across London and the South East. Every job starts with a lift geometry check — confirming the lorry loader’s reach and safe working load at the required radius before committing to an access position.`
I made one small wording change here: “before we commit” → “before committing”. It reads more naturally as evergreen website copy rather than something copied from a project report.
