The 2,000kVA transformer, GRP enclosure and heavy concrete base blocks had to be lifted from the access road at significant radius. Ground conditions at the front of the site were unsuitable for direct lorry positioning, so crane mats were used to establish a stable working platform before the vehicle was set up.
Once the platform was in place, the base blocks, transformer package and GRP enclosure were lifted and installed in the required sequence.
The concrete base blocks, 2,000kVA transformer package and GRP enclosure were all successfully installed in sequence. The crane-mat platform gave the lorry loader a stable working surface and allowed the lift to proceed despite the ground conditions at the front of the site.
Ground bearing capacity was assessed as part of the pre-job survey, identifying the set-up requirement before the vehicle arrived on site.
