Not every technically demanding lift requires a crane or lorry loader. This heat exchanger was located in a compact plant room with low ceilings, no external access and little usable floor space.
The unit only needed to be raised enough to slide a drip tray beneath it, but the restricted environment made that objective complex. Riglift engineered the lifting arrangement in situ, using a steel beam across the available structure with timbers and structural clamps to establish the bearing points.
Chain tackles and specialist lifting slings completed the controlled lift. The gantry had to be planned and assembled entirely within the room, without oversized equipment or changes to the existing structure.
The heat exchanger was successfully raised and the drip tray installed beneath it. The engineered gantry provided a stable, controlled lift throughout the operation.
The work was completed within the room’s constraints and without modifying the existing structure, demonstrating how a purpose-built gantry can solve lifting challenges where crane access is not available.
